Common Behavior Issues
Behavior modification is available for numerous behavior issues or training of a specific behavior. These behaviors include:
-Inappropriate urination (over 6 months of age)
-Jumping
-Resource guarding
-Nipping/play biting
-Barking
-Fear (non-aggressive)
-And more!
Each behavior modification program includes a customized behavior plan with week-by-week notes and instructions on how to continue training even after your trainer has left! You will receive a packet with reading and training materials pertaining to your dog’s specific behavior needs.
Sessions are typically weekly or bi-weekly depending on the needs of the dog. Most behavior modification will require at least 6 sessions and depending on the behavior, it may be a longer process. Reactivity Training
Training dogs with reactivity can be very difficult and time consuming, but very rewarding! Many types of these cases can involve aggression towards other dogs. The true aggression may not be able to be fixed, but Kay’s K9s can help your dog to acclimate better to different situations and, using counterconditioning and desensitization, can help your dog to see other dogs passing by as no big deal!
Reactivity cases are worked on weekly or every other week depending on the needs of the dog. Kay’s K9s has 2 working dogs that will help you and your dog slowly adjust to being near another dog!
-You will receive a CUSTOMIZED behavior modification plan with week-by-week notes and instructions on how to continue training throughout the week. You will also get a packet with lots of good reading and training materials.

Aggression:
Dog-Dog Aggression and Dog-Human Aggression
Training dogs with aggression towards humans is difficult and dangerous for both the trainer and the owner. Dog’s with a bite history or history of aggressive behaviors towards humans will never be able to be deemed “cured” or “normal”. Proper management while working with these cases is imperative. The owner must follow all of the trainer’s recommendations and protocols. Sessions are weekly. This program is very intensive and requires absolute follow-through on the part of the owner.
Training dogs with dog-dog aggression either within the household OR outside of the household may be offered on a case-by-case basis. These cases require a lot of time and management techniques. Sessions are recommended weekly. This program is very intensive and requires absolute follow-through on the part of the owner.
*Consultation is required for ALL aggression cases. Muzzle training may be required prior to consultation depending on bite history and aggression intensity.
-You will receive a CUSTOMIZED modification program that will include muzzle training, double barrier protection, and protection gear necessary for your situation.
